So, after listening to Sarah Vaughan all day, I decided to watch Love Jones (since watching that movie is usually Phase II of my “It didn’t work out” ritual). And as usual, I teared up every 5 minutes and mouthed along to most of the lines since I’ve seen it so many times.

Love Jones will forever top my favorite movie list. I am a huge sucker for romance and I just loved the way this story played out. I think it’s a very entertaining (and likely) take on what can happen when two people fall in love. My favorite scene was at the very end when Darius (Larenz Tate) tells Nina (Nia Long),
“I love you…..and that’s urgent like a motherf**ker”.
I usually reach for the kleenex box right after that..lol.
And the soundtrack is something serious! One of my favorite songs ever, “The Sweetest Thing” by Lauryn Hill is on there. As well as “In a Sentimental Mood” by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.
Now, I will probably watch Love and Basketball and cry my eyes out(I’m exaggerating) while drowning my sorrows in Cookies and Cream ice-cream. (And I won’t feel bad about it either, because most people who are alive, and not unfeeling robots, do the same thing). Sometimes you just have to wallow in self pity for a little while before you come to your senses and brush your shoulders off. I’ll most likely do that tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by
Yeah, sometimes things just don’t work out the way we had hoped. Disappointment is a regular part of life that shapes us and makes us stronger. It hurts like hell though. So…To avoid future “And then watch Love Jones” weekends, I’m gonna have to learn to choose better guys…lol.
