Hello…

Just came across this video on Youtube today. These Maroon 5 guys are on an all out campaign to make me like them! LOL. Just Joking!  Adam Levine is the man!! Check out his cover of “Frontin”"….with a cameo by the Mighty Mos Def.

I’m supposed to discuss three topics in this post (since it’s been such a long time coming)…

1) Glow in the Dark

2) My trip to Miami

and

3)The Sex and the City movie.

But before I get into them, I’d like to bring up briefly if I may, my recurring infatuation (albeit, a slight one)  with Saigon.

I don’t know how or when it started again, but It just sort of creeps up on me at random. Ever since he released the full version of “Believe it” on his myspace page about a week ago, he’s on my radar HEAVILY. That album is going to be out of this world. Here he is, performing a “Kilo of raw uncut” aka his crack single “Believe it”, in Seattle. The beat gives me a warm feeling in my tummy..lol.

the video starts off hazy but keep watching. It focuses after a few…

OK..sooooo GLOW IN THE DARK…..and MIAMI

Here are some pics (Double click to Enlarge)

They were hating inside the venue (Dodge Music Center sucks ass!) and stopped me before I could get any really good photos of Kanye. Here are the few I managed to sneak before the angry bouncers told me to put my camera away.

I missed Lupe Fiasco’s set because for some reason, (actually because the white people waiting to get in were acting a little drunk and rowdy), so they wouldn’t let anyone in. I was on time too, and I was highly incensed. When I finally got in N*E*R*D was halfway through their set. My first clue that Lupe had already gone on, was when I noticed him dancing along to “Rockstar” spraying his box of Cap’n Krunch cereal into the crowd. Chris Brown came out and “krumped” to “Spazz”. Must have been there supporting his boo Rihanna. He looked great.

Her set bored me to tears. Her outfits were cool and she sounded great, but she was just lacking in energy. Her set put me in a bad mood.

When I saw them setting up Kanye’s stage, I knew I was in for a treat. It was a very involved soundstage with a very realistic looking mountainous terrain, and huge hanging white globes suspended from the ceiling, and a large screen in the background that projected lots of colorful images and backgrounds. It was quite a sight to behold. I was worried that I would have gotten tired of just seeing Kanye ALONE on the stage, but as he went through all his songs, all those thoughts left my mind. Tears came to my eyes when I heard the opening strains of “Flashing Lights”. I love the concept and execution of the show. I love the idea of him being on a journey home. It was really effective and I left feeling fulfilled AND highly satisfied. No encore necessary..even though one would have been nice. (‘Roses’ would have been the cherry on top for me)

MIAMI

It was my first time there and I had a ball. Laying on South beach and frolicking in the water was the BEST part. I forgot how badly I had needed a vacation until I was there. Stayed in a nice hotel (www.royalpalmmiamibeach.com) and got the Royal Treatment. Finally went to Mansion (which wasn’t all that) and FORGE (where I was thrilled to discover that Cam’ron was also there that night). I enjoyed being down there. I like the vibe. It’s very chill and I was able to get some much needed rest and relaxation and have some fun too. There are a few pics in the gallery above that I took with my sidekick. (I apologize for the quality!)

The Sex and the City Movie

It was everything I hoped it would be. I wont go into detail so as not to ruin it for anyone. It was like watching an extended episode of the show. It was thought provoking, and introspective and just EVERYTHING I used to miss about the show. I was drooling over the fashion. Especially when I caught sight of “Carrie” wearing the CHLOE SLIT ANKLE BOOTS in one of the scenes. Carrie was best dressed, but Samantha wasn’t too far behind. I loved her wardrobe, and overall persona in the movie. I usually relate to Carrie the most, but this time, I found myself identifying a lot with Samantha’s character. I already knew I was going to cry at some point…especially when Carrie was trying on all the wedding dresses. I felt a lump in my throat when I saw the Vivienne Westwood one she ended up picking. It was so gorgeous! I love the idea that Carrie and Big (after all that history behind them) ended up together. It was a really, really awesome movie!

And finally, I’ve decided to go to Rock the Bells this year. I sat it out last year but the lineup this year is BETTER. I’m gonna go to the Mansfield, MA one. I’ll rent a car and drive up from Hartford. I’m contemplating on whether to get the VIP package or not. I kind of want to be backstage so I can run into Q-tip casually. I’ll have to try my best not to freak out. I think he’s so good looking.

I’m still listening to “Rising Down” but I love what I’m hearing so far. The title track is ferocious. Will update soon!
